Blockhouse
Alma, MI

Located in historic downtown Alma, Michigan, Blockhouse is one of Mid Michigan's first esports arenas. The space was created for neighborhood gamers and fans to play in matches, watch league tournaments, and receive coaching. Designed for the growing sport, and equipped to host live performances and streams the space also offers a full bar and small plate menu. Virtuoso Design + Build provided both interior design services, as well as the millwork throughout the space.

 

Design features include the walnut veneer barrel vaulted pilasters stretching across the space that were designed to match the curved screens (seen behind the bar) favored by gamers. The bar also done in clear coated walnut veneer incorporates ceiling mounted metal shelving as well as specialized 'coat hooks' designed to manage cord cables for laptop setups. Metal and glass partitions located at the stage allow for game instruction and competitions. The custom merchandise shelf is designed to look like the logo.
